I'm a little late (OK, 2 months) reflecting on the Dare2Share Tech conference from June, but I wanted to have a post about the awesome collaboration that happened between my partner-in-crime, Tavia Clark and myself on being Connected Educators and using Augmented Reality; as well as the fantastic PBL unit I did with Carol (tech facilitator) and Mari Beth (art teacher) that we presented to our peers. Tavia and I do most of our collaboration via Twitter, Google Hangouts, Google Apps, and email... we've only worked in the same physical place a handful of times! Being a connected educator means blogging and reading blogs, sharing ideas on social media, telling "your classroom story" so education isn't JUST portrayed by the "media," and growing your PLN. Obviously this presentation is better with our commentary, but feel free to explore our Connected Educators presentation website where we have loads of links and tutorials to help you get more connected. Aurasma is an amazing technology tool that makes learning every engaging and allows students at all levels to be creators of content, not just consumers of information. We both used it in different ways with K-5 students and 9-12. Check out our Augmented Reality presentation website to see real examples from our 2014-2015 year and get tutorials on how to use it in YOUR lessons! Collaboration is a great way to make a project-based learning experience successful for students! We had a great time teaching 1st graders about Arctic/Antarctic regions through technology, information literacy, and artistic expression. Click through our presentation, and see the website for materials that you can use to replicate this lesson, or adjust for your ideas on the PBL presentation website.
